Who is responsible for your information

Data protection enquiries are handled by the practice. Write to the address above, or use the telephone number and email on the contact page, marking your message for the attention of the person responsible for data protection.

Information collected through this website

This website collects personal information in one place only: the consultation enquiry form. When you complete it, the practice receives the name, email address, telephone number (if you provide one), area of interest and message that you enter.

It is used to reply to your enquiry and to arrange an appointment if you ask for one. It is not used for marketing, not sold, and not shared with anyone outside the practice and its service providers.

Please do not send detailed medical information through the enquiry form. Health information needs more protection than email provides, and it is gathered securely at your consultation instead.

Lawful basis

For enquiries, the practice relies on its legitimate interest in responding to people who contact it.

For clinical care and dental records, different bases apply: Article 6(1)(c) and 6(1)(f) of the UK GDPR, together with Article 9(2)(h), which covers the provision of health care and the management of health care services. The practice’s own patient privacy notice, which you are given when you register as a patient, sets this out in full.

Cookies and measurement

This website sets no cookies by default and loads no analytics or advertising scripts unless you choose to allow measurement. Your choice is stored in your browser and can be changed at any time on the cookies page.

How long information is kept

An enquiry sent through this website is kept only for as long as it takes to answer it and to arrange any appointment that follows, and is then deleted. If you go on to become a patient, the relevant details are transferred into your dental record and kept with it instead.

Dental records are kept for the periods set out in the NHS Records Management Code of Practice, which requires them to be held for a number of years after your last course of treatment, and for longer where treatment was carried out while you were a child. The practice will tell you the exact period that applies to your record on request.

Who information is shared with

Your information is not sold, and it is not used for advertising or profiling. It is shared only where it has to be: with the suppliers who run this website and the practice’s email and practice management systems, all of which act on the practice’s instructions under a written contract, and, where your treatment requires it, with a dental laboratory or another clinician you are referred to.

Information may also be disclosed where the law requires it, for example to a regulator exercising its statutory powers, or to protect someone from serious harm.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask for a copy of the information held about you, to have inaccurate information corrected, to object to certain processing, and in some circumstances to have information erased or its use restricted.

Complaints about how your information is handled

Please raise it with the practice first. If you remain dissatisfied you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK supervisory authority for data protection.
